High Performance Computing (HPC) and Technical Infrastructure (TI) in Shell is used extensively in the Upstream part of the business (seismic processing, reservoir modeling, and R&D). Shell is actively exploring for hydrocarbons across the globe. HPC & TI are enabling technologies for many Shell businesses, Joint Ventures and Operating Units.
As part of PT SOM, IT Services and Operations (ITSO) the HPC & TI group in Shell provides HPC & technical infrastructure services globally to Shell, with staff based in Houston (USA), Rijswijk (Netherlands), Cyberjaya & Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), and Bangalore (India). The team brings business value with innovative, agile, reliable and secure operational HPC & TI services. This role will provide you an opportunity to work on the latest technology and innovations in Shell as part of the PT SOM / HPC&TI organization in IT Services and Operations (ITSO).
The technical compute storage service (TCSS) team focuses on delivering Technical Storage and Data Services to primarily the Subsurface user community for the management 5 PB of Technical storage located globally in 20 sites.
What is the role?
This role is focused on enhancements and support of in-house applications developed in technologies like Python, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Apache. Some of the specific duties include day to day monitoring and bug fixing of applications, enhancements of applications, collaboration with vendors, deployments/upgrades, and other related duties as needed/determined.

Requirements:
What we need from you
The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate / possess most of the following skills / attributes:
MANDATORY:
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor’s Degree related to Information Technology preferred.
Minimum five (5) years of experience of application development, Operations and Administration.
Strong technical background in infrastructure service delivery on a global scale across Active Directory protocol, Linux, storage, databases and thin-client technologies
Proven expertise in Unix, Python, PostgreSQL
LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) experience and knowledge.
Should be experienced and knowledgeable of web development technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax.
Experience interfacing with customers, end-users, service providers and vendors to develop and maintain effective relationships.
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills as well as a good command of the English Language both verbal and written.
PREFERRED:
Demonstrated experience with DB design.
Preferred expertise working Projects, contributing technically and/or managing small (technical) deliverables.
ITIL IT management processes (ability to operate stringent Change, Incident, Problem, Request, Asset Management and Release Management regimes).
Candidates should be aware of application delivery and associated workflows preferably in a Storage and/or Data-management environment.
Should be adept with Agile methodology.
Should have experience to work within tight delivery schedules.
Ability to prioritize and make appropriate trade-offs in work activities.
Ability to identify opportunities for improvement.
Work independently as part of a global team.
Work effectively across cultural boundaries in a 24x7 environment.
Special Requirements:
As part of a global team the incumbent will need to be flexible to work outside of standard office hours. Will need to be available to join virtual teleconferences and meetings outside normal business hours if necessary.
Should be keen to learn new technologies.
Scope of the role is broad spanning applications, data and infrastructure.
