Responsibilities Include:

In response to the nation’s challenge to develop and validate protocols and data protection technologies, Idaho National Laboratory has established the INL Wireless Security Institute (WSI). The Institute’s mission is to lead and coordinate government, academic, and private industry research efforts fostering more secure and reliable telecommunications technology. The institute draws on INL’s extensive expertise and unique facilities that have been used for nearly two decades to analyze, design, test, and improve cellular, radio, and satellite communication systems for government agencies and global wireless communication companies.

The Communications & Modeling Department at Idaho National Laboratory intends to hire a Telecommunications Engineer to support INL’s Wireless Security Institute. In this role, you will work closely with an integrated project team comprised of engineers (RF, cellular, networking, IT, facilities, etc.) computer scientists, technical, and management staff. You will support activities related to research, analysis, assessment, programming, deployment, testing, training, operations and maintenance.

Minimum Requirements:

BS and 2 - 5 yrs

MS and 1 - 3 yrs

PhD and 0 - 2 yrs

Preferred degree fields include: Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, and Computer Information Systems.

Proven experience in cellular technologies, with a primary focus in cellular system installation, design, and implementation; switch maintenance and operation; and troubleshooting or relevant education/experience in lieu of degree.

Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) Q Security Clearance.

Preferred experience should include:

Experience planning, deploying, configuring, troubleshooting/testing, and repairing telecommunications systems.

Working level knowledge of servers and computer systems.

Working level knowledge of cellular networks.

Research, propose, design, deploy and test solutions to satisfy specific requirements.

Summarize task-specific requirements for review and concurrence by the integrated project team, project lead, or Customer, as appropriate.

Perform general maintenance activities of assigned systems and ancillary support/analysis equipment such as operational performance checks, alarm checks, log reviews, configuration backups, physical configuration inspections (equipment and cabling), spares inventory management, failure replacements, issue troubleshooting, and corrective actions.

Job Information

Salary Grade PR0200 - 200 ($81,288 - $134,100) or PR0300 - 210 ($93,492 - $154,212)
