Twilio is looking for a Software Engineer who wants to design, develop, deploy and operate services at scale to power Twilio's next-generation products. You’re fluent in Java and/or Python. You have experience working with key-value, document, or relational databases. You love building systems and products for customers with massive scale. You think about how data shapes software as much as how your code does. You have experience building software that runs on production systems. You are eager to learn from the team of Software Engineers and Expert Machine Learning Engineers.

Who?

Must have:

Java or Python - fluency in one of these languages.

You have a strong understanding of API Design.

Direct experience with cloud-based services.

Design resilient microservices and applications.

Experience defining schemas for various types of data, setting up appropriate data stores.

You communicate well in person, on paper, and in code. You love to make an impact and thrive in small, collaborative, energetic teams.

You know that the code you ship is only as dependable and predictable as the tests you write.

Nice to have:

Familiarity with continuous integration & continuous delivery

NoSQL experience

Experience working with data pipelines is a plus.

Exposure or interest to learn machine learning projects would also be nice.

Familiarity with distributed systems

Help define, break down and prioritize work in partnership with the team. Independently design software components and non-complex APIs for scalability, testability, supportability and maintainability. Works independently to determine resolution for issues in the team’s domain.

Twilio powers the delivery of billions of the world’s communications. Customer conversations are one of the most informative indicators of a product and business’ health. They cover every time a customer is delighted, frustrated, buying more, closing their account, needing help, etc. But usually, those conversations are trapped away in a black box, analyzed only by listening to them one by one or with basic keyword search capabilities.

The Twilio AI team is building a platform that uses machine learning to transcribe, categorize, and extract meaning from customer conversations so companies can evaluate every one of them and build workflows that automate actions, like prioritizing high-value leads to follow up on or identifying customers likely to churn.
