Position Purpose

Where you fit in –

Transitioning to new and cleaner forms of energy requires significant capital that will be generated from successful Oil and Gas production in the Upstream Deepwater Gulf of Mexico (GoM). Naval Architects and Marine Engineers are vital to delivering this production from massive floating structures in water depths ranging from just under 3000’ to more than 10,000’. You will have a crucial role in efficiently and pragmatically maintaining the integrity of these amazing structures through existing proven technology and the identification of new technology that will provide more cost-effective solutions for your assets. As a Naval Architect/Marine Engineer the selected candidate will report to the Civil/Marine Team Lead within the Maintenance, Turnaround, Construction (MTAC) and Engineering organization

What’s the role?

The successful candidate for Naval Architect/Marine Engineer will ensure that asset and system integrity plans including verification and assurance controls are executed, and that marine risks are identified and managed. More specifically, your role will include:

Technical assurance and Asset support through business processes including management of change, emergency response, participation in hazard identifications, and critical sparing

Ensure that marine related requests from operations for advice and/or support are dealt with in a timely manner

Review inspection reports to identify issues and take prompt action.

Assist with Developing and Maintaining Integrity Assurance Strategies and align them with external and internal standards.

Visit the assets regularly to assess and report the condition of marine systems in order to maintain and improve the asset integrity system to safeguard the asset, crew, cargo, and the environment.

Act as Contract Holder for Marine Vendors

Monitor and manage assigned and agreed budgets.

Delivering cost reductions for Discipline

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of international, national and classification society rules and regulations which apply, or are proposed for application.

Delivering Continuous Improvement/Optimization

What we need from you –

Because of the large number of stakeholders touched by this position, a strong operational background, excellent people skills and ability to work across team and within cross discipline teams will set you apart. A personal commitment to Safety as a Value is crucial to the success of this role. You will need to work with others to achieve results and exercise independent judgement and initiative in decision making. Additionally, you will have:

Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis.

Considerable naval and marine engineering experience (5 years) with emphasis on marine systems such as propulsion and station-keeping (mooring lines and winches), cargo systems, bilge and ballast, ventilation, and electrical systems in design, construction and operations.

Preferred oil and gas industry experience

A Bachelor’s Degree (Masters Preferred) from an accredited college or university in Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

Preferred Professional Engineering License, and at a minimum ability to obtain one in the near future.

Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET)and TWIC card (ability to attain both is required) and ability to travel offshore

Proven change management skills

Excellent oral and written presentation skills

A demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities to build ownership toward the asset and maximize overall results.
