Where you fit in
The Wells, Reservoir, Facilities Management (WRFM) process engineering team is located within the Asset production department and committed to the operational technical support and facilities optimization of the QGC Assets.
The Senior WRFM Process Engineer, QGC role has the key objectives of analyzing the QGC above ground facility network (wells, gathering, compression, dehydration, pipelines) to ensure that it is performing optimally in comparison to the theoretical ideal. The optimization process includes daily surveillance, process modelling, and optimization idea generation to ensure facilities are optimized now and for the next few years. The role will also include project work to execute low capital improvements to facilities.
What’s the role?
This role is a key frontline contributor to Asset with responsibilities including:
Daily process engineering support to operations and WRFM leads to ensure facilities are safely optimized for production, power and GHG in the short to medium term.
Daily proactive monitoring of facility safe operating envelopes from well skids to sales stations.
Identification of threats and opportunities to improve facility performance in the short to medium term including the coordinating of specific sections of the Annual Facility Review (AFR).
WRFM focal point for pipeline pigging activates including data sheet preparation, control room and transmissions operational support.
Trading and Supply team support during curtailment events including Hydraulic Modelling scenario testing.
Business planning support for budget and LE cycles including Contract Agreed Maximum Demand (CAMD) modelling.
Maintenance of Limit diagrams, process engineering tools and models to enable timely support to operations, trading and project teams as required.
Annual BudgetNo direct budgetary control but will provide key technical analysis that will influence capital projects and short-term operational decisions.
SubordinatesNo direct reports but role requires high levels of collaboration across operational working groups and asset organization. There will likely be opportunity to mentor other process engineers.
You will thrive in the following competencies:
Analysis of compression to understand performance against ideal operation.
Analysis of compression network (including trunklines and pipelines) to understand performance against ideal performance.
Analysis of compression network for power consumption, leading to identification of opportunities to reduce power consumption in alignment with business objectives.
Execute field-based trials to validate optimization opportunities.
Execute projects including focal point for management of change.
Use of process engineering modelling tools such as Unisim and pipeline tools such as Unisim Compass, Pipesim or SPS.
Organize and facilitate practice table reviews for facilities.
Familiarity with gathering, pipeline, and compression systems in high detail a clear advantage.
Hands on experience or track record with CI/LEAN an advantage.
What we need from you
We hope to find as many of the following:
BSc / MSc in Process, Chemical Engineering Discipline or equivalent.
Significant experience in Oil and Gas Upstream Operations, experience with oil and gas Upstream Facilities Operations preferred.
Experience with running risk assessments and using Management of change processes.
Experience using process simulation packages in support of various functions.
Process Safety Management Knowledge/Assurance in Oil & Gas Operations.
Able to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks efficiently while managing communication and expectations with key stakeholders. Work effectively in a rapidly changing environment with changing priorities.
Strong interpersonal skills with good networking, influencing, negotiation and facilitation abilities.
Experience in leading and sustaining new ways of working and continuous improvement an advantage.
