Job Description:

Purpose of the Role:

Ensure smooth access to Shell standards for users servicing Shell projects and parties who license Shell standards. This has several elements:


Oversight and management of the Shell DEPs Online system that provides web-based access to users of Shell standards. This services approximately 5,000 Shell users and 8,000 Joint Venture, Contractor and other 3rd Party users.
Management of the licensing process and operations to configure access for users to appropriate collections of standards.
Support to Commercial and Service engineers while negotiating contracts for supply of standards to licensees.
Manage interface with users including helpdesk, response to queries and clarifications.
Ensure records and documentation of agreements are held centrally and maintained.


Key Features:


The licensing process has a defined workflow but often requires judgement to assess the application for individual project or business challenges. The guiding principles are to protect Shell Intellectual Property while enabling efficient use of standards by Shell and 3rd Parties.
Access to content is controlled with Non-Disclosure Agreements that are signed and approved at appropriate levels.
The Licensing engineer approves licensing decisions and troubleshoots / resolves any non-standard requests for access.
The Licensing Engineer oversees the publication process which happens typically 4-6 times per year – once for DEPs, twice for package equipment specifications and several times for Wells Manuals.
The licensing engineer role could expand with additional activities for development work depending on the capacity of the person. The most immediate will be:
Implementing a docusign or similar electronic signature process for agreements.
Investigating a replacement for the DEPs Online system with the potential for application of learning support tools or ‘AI’ capability.


Desirables/Added Value: -


Effective communication skill and stakeholder management is a necessary skill for the job.Professional Engineering certification is an added value.
Experience in content management using SharePoint / Document or equivalent tools is an added advantage.
Keen learner and self-starter, ready to learn in shared learning environment and from on the job peer learning.

4 Years of relevant experience
Developed engagement and communication skills.
Knowledge or higher-level awareness of the context of use of technical data and documentation within technical data processes, Ability to deal effectively with complexity and detail.
Ability to prioritize and ensure delivery of priorities for the area of responsibility.
Flexible and adaptable to change, with track record of demonstrating initiative, analytical capabilities and problem solving.
