Job Summary

The VIPER Time Shifted Video Engineering Group within TPX is responsible for developing and managing the Next Generation IP-based Cloud DVR (cDVR) system. We developed this system from the ground up. It is a large-scale system supporting millions of customers to record and play back their favorite TV shows anytime, anywhere, on any device connected to the internet. We are looking for an outstanding Director candidate to lead the Operations and System Engineering Team within the Time- Shifted Engineering group.
Job Description
What You'll do:
The successful candidate will ensure the efficient and effective functioning of Cloud DVR systems and operations, using data-driven approaches, large-scale operations, and principles of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), promoting a DevOps culture and automation.
You will lead multiple teams of engineers and be responsible for the daily operations of Cloud DVR systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
This role requires someone with excellent leadership and communication skills, as well as experience in managing system engineering projects.
The Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the Operations and System Engineering Team, provide mentorship, resolve concerns, and coach and grow managers and senior individuals.
Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison between the Operations and System Engineering Team and other teams. Be familiar with all technical details and problems the team faces.
Develop and implement data-driven processes and procedures to optimize system performance and reliability, using principles of SRE, promoting a DevOps culture, and fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and continuous improvement.
Oversee the implementation of new systems and technologies, including hardware and software, with a focus on automation and monitoring, promoting the standard processes throughout the organization.
Identify and address operational and system engineering challenges and opportunities, using data to inform decision-making and implementing solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Develop and manage project plans and budgets to achieve goals and objectives, using metrics and analytics to measure success, promoting a culture of accountability and performance.
Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and partners to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of projects, using data to assess performance and identify areas of improvement.
Ensure effective communication and teamwork across departments and teams to achieve larger organizational goals, using data to drive alignment and consensus-building, promoting multi-functional teamwork and shared ownership of outcomes.
What You'll need:
Experience leading engineering teams
BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields, MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or management and leadership is a plus.
At least eight years of experience with at least two years of experience in a leadership role and experience in managing operations and system engineers is a plus.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to leverage data to drive insights and action
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse group of engineers in a data-driven, SRE-oriented, DevOps-focused, and automation-driven culture
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage numerous projects simultaneously, using data to prioritize and optimize resources, promoting a culture of agility and responsiveness
Have a passion for improving operational efficiency through automation
A strong sense of ownership and initiative, and love learning and adapting to new technologies
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Database, and Object Storage is a plus

Salary:
Pay Range: $150,713.72 - $226,070.58
