Electrical engineer needed to help polish existing PCB design
We are a small team of software engineers who are looking to finish the design of a four-layer, medium-current PCB weve been developing in-house. The product is an ESP32-based smart LED controller with an audio-codec on board and is designed to drive several hundred 5v or 12v WS2812b LEDs with audio reactive animations. Our cumulative electrical engineering/PCB design skills have allowed us to create a proof-of-concept, but were at the point where we dont feel comfortable distributing this product to beta-testers without a proper power design, and a design that plays well with the audio circuitry. The products power supply is a 60A 5v or 12v power supply, so it can be assumed that the board will be supplied a clean 12v signal.
Specifically, what were looking for is:
- Proper step down converter for 12v - 5v if 5v LED chipset is used
- High-current power rail design for driving up to 15A at 5v or 12v from the board
- Voltage regulator design that provides 3.3v to main MCU, and a clean 1.8v to audio codec
- A quiet design that does not interfere with amplified line out output
- An audio of the existing voltage regulator choice and MCU power design
- Anything else we may not be thinking of!
A few other features we would like to add, but at this point arent requirements include:
- Lipo power and charging circuitry
- 1/4 audio input design
- Class D amplifier circuitry
In terms of who we are looking for, wed like an individual or agency who may be willing to work with us for future revisions, and someone who has experience with audio circuitry is a must given the nature of the board.
We use eagle, and would prefer to stick with eagle since we used it to design our existing PCB. We also would supply existing design files. Given our budget and timeline, wed prefer to not start from scratch. However since its such a small board (see screenshot), we wouldnt be opposed if a full board redesign if for whatever reason the existing PCB designs would hinder development.
We were hoping to have the design finished by August, so the timeline is a little tight. That being said, there is no hard set date. Were hoping to begin beta testing mid-fall 2020.
