Job Description:
What's the role -
The Senior Control and Automation (C&A) Specialist’s role is to provide direct technical support to all aspects of controls, automation, and safety instrumented systems in the Permian Field.
Technical support could include: 
Accountability for the overall health of the field SCADA system (software, hardware, telecoms, etc.)
Definition of maintenance strategies(including spare parts strategies)and tasks
Development of C&A standards with respect to programming design patterns, data integration strategies, and software versioncontrol management
Maintaining documentation (e.g.,cause and effect tables, programming logic,control narratives,PLC I/O drawings, alarm management database, etc.)
Defining, developing, and assuring the C&A competency of field technicians,productionoperators, and otherPermian personnel
Project support (e.g.,design reviews, HAZOPs,SIL (Safety Integrity Level)assessments,factory acceptance tests)
Management of Change (MOC) initiation, review, and execution
Advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysisof controls and instrumented safety systems
Management of C&A contractors
The Senior C&A Specialist is the focal point for Alarm Management and Safety Instrumented Systems processes, which are part of the Asset Management System (AMS) elements Ensure Safe Production (ESP) and Manage Equipment Care (MEC), respectively. 
Dimensions 
The Senior C&A Specialist is the accountable party for the production operations SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system and is required to interface with field, technical, and IT staff to ensure the system is healthy.
Regular presence in the Permian field to provide direct supervision and support of C&A activities is expected. Due to the areal extent of the field, extensive driving is required, including on unpaved roads. Shell provides a truck for company use and defensive driving training is mandatory. 
Interaction with all levels of the organization, including operators, field leadership, asset leadership, engineering, and project delivery staff.  
The Senior C&A Specialist is part of the Surface Technical Team and works closely with other members of the team, including rotating equipment and electrical specialists, and facilities and reliability engineers. 
The Senior C&A Specialist is expected to provide mentoring and coaching on C&A across the asset.
Systems in the Senior C&A Specialist’s scope include, but are not limited to:
SCADA,specifically:AVEVAInTouch OMI,AVEVA System Platform,Wonderware Historian,Win911, andTop Server applications
PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), specificallyAllen-BradleyControlLogix, MicroLogix, Emerson ROC800 RTU, Floboss RTU, and RX3iplatforms.
SIS (Safety Instrumented System), specificallyproficiency inSIL (Safety Integrity Level) and how it relates to SIS.
HMI (Human Machine Interface), specificallyAllen-Bradley PanelView, Beijer, &Emerson Web Panel.
Communications (wired, wireless, TCP/IP networks,etc.)
Process Control Network (data acquisition and control, process and control domain, third party access, etc.)
PI data historian

Skills and Requirements
What we need from you -
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred.
Minimum of ten (10) years work experience in years of relevant experience, preferably in onshore oil and gas production.​
Skill in maintaining SCADA systemswith multiple types of RTUs spread across a large geographical area
Skill in operating and maintaining safety instrumented systems, control systems,andcommunication networks.
Knowledge of C&A documentation and work process (e.g.,MOC, alarm management, MEC,Version Controletc.) requirements.
Ability to work effectively with technical, operations, and maintenance personnel.
Skill in root cause analysis, preferably including causal learning techniques.
