Description
The Data Scientist 2 uses mathematics, statistics, modeling, business analysis, and technology to transform high volumes of complex data into advanced analytic solutions. The Data Scientist 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.
Responsibilities
RT Analytics & Reporting is a team focused on data, reporting and data science supporting G&A operation area (Resolution Team). The team is focused on converting data to actionable insights for our business partners who can utilize to drive complaints reduction and improve operation efficiency.
The Data Scientist II will work directly with internal customers to help guide decision makers (executives to front-line leaders) to make it easy for our associates to complete complex processes, ultimately having a direct impact on our members using your consulting, analytics and problem solving skills. You will also engage with business partners outside of Resolution Team on discovering the actionable insights that will help improving member and provider's experience through analytics. You will assist in the presentation, implementation, and evaluation of your recommendations and solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Identify strategic opportunities for reducing the inventory by combining and analyzing diverse types of data to extract fresh, actionable discoveries of the impact to G&A area from decision and changes made by business partners within Humana
Identify strategic opportunities for improving business outcomes though advanced analytics.
Conduct outcome analysis on varies test and learn initiatives within and outside Resolution Team
Develop predictive models to identify operational gaps, drive process improvement and identify business opportunities
Provide expertise and assistance in implementing model results in ongoing business processes
Participate in developing and selecting new data sources and ensuring the quality and reliability of the data
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Applied Math, Statistics, Information Management or a related quantitative field
Demonstrated critical thinking and strong problem solving and reasoning skills
Advanced experience working with big and complex data sets within large organizations
2 years of experience in analytics with a proven ability developing methods and criteria for measuring and summarizing data to derive business insights
Core business hours align to Eastern Standard Time (EST)
Significant prior experience working with one or more of the following statistical, database or data visualization tools, such as SAS, Power BI, SQL, PL/SQL, R, or Python
Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and business partners
Work-At-Home Requirements
WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office (Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role). A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.
A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
Expertise in data mining, forecasting, simulation, and/or predictive modeling
Experience creating analytics solutions for various healthcare sectors
