Sensor Design/Physics Engineer

Job Summary:

The sensor designer/physicist as part of the Sensors Technology team is responsible to design and verify measurement techniques. He will be responsible for providing engineering solutions for the development or improvement of those techniques, procedures and products using analysis and experiments based on principles of physics and mathematical modelling. In this R&D role, the tasks include designing and developing new sensors, analyzing measurements on those sensors, providing inputs to electrical and mechanical designers based on physical principles. The sensor designer/physicist assists in planning, conducting, and evaluating experiments to meet project objectives in a timely fashion. He is actively involved in technology watch and new concept exploration for future measurements and products.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties


Perform active tech watch and bibliography to implement solutions into new or existing products.
Connect physical principles to actual sensor technologies and product design.
Design new sensors and measurements techniques (devices, processing, error models) and improve current sensor designs and measurements techniques. Set up and run models and simulations, validate with experiments.
Build prototypes, products, and systems suitable for sensor characterizations and validations.
Consider metrology and physics to determine uncertainties from modeling and test results.
Consider hardware and software integration in systems,
Conduct or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs.
Author technical reports, papers, articles, patents and presentations. Interact with external suppliers and research laboratories.


Required skills


Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, physics, earth sciences, or related fields preferably with thesis work related to applied physics in sensors or scientific instrumentation.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational and communication skills
Interest in Technology and physics at large
Enthusiasm and ability to work within a team of scientists and engineers
English language proficiency
