What’s the Role
The Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical) plays a key role in day-to-day reliability of the operating units, along with the effectiveness of the maintenance organization in the delivery of maintenance activities.
This team member is accountable for providing day to day technical support to routine and non-routine maintenance organizations. This role requires a strong understanding of maintaining equipment (Static and Rotating) to be successful. The Maintenance Engineer covers the development of Maintenance strategies and supports planning, coordination and execution of Maintenance activities. This team members focus is on ensuring a safe, defect free and efficient operations through the regular upkeep of equipment and tools in the most cost efficient and timely manner.
Accountabilities:
Act as a focal point for all maintenance activities and first line of contact for Static and rotating equipment support in the field, escalation to engineering services and Reliability specialists as needed
Detail scope for maintenance and Non-Routine Maintenance such as demo work, tank work, rotating equipment overhauls
Support with pitstop (including boilers) and input to the IAP (Integrated Activity Plan)
Communicate and coordinate work scopes with Production, Maintenance and Technical teams associated with pitstops and complex repairs
Lead integration and review of management of change elements for maintenance and non-routine maintenance
Develop and prepare technical information and details for repairs and maintenance outage work, tanks, pitstops
Participate in Tank SRBI (Shell Risk Based Inspection) reviews and updates
Support min/max reviews and update equipment BOMs (Bill of Material)
Assess equipment condition to effectively diagnose faults and failures
Participate in Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) studies, as required, and support discipline Engineers/Specialists with the RCM Living Program
Follow up to close action items to support the production and Maintenance teams
Champion continuous Improvement mind set through solving short term problems, and implementing/sustaining long-term solutions
Partner with Engineering services team to mitigate long-term threats and opportunities
Provide technical support for key maintenance contractor for routine and nonroutine activities
Skills & Requirements
8 years of experience in Maintenance Engineering
Mechanical Engineering or another related degree preferred
Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario or another Canadian province
Ability to work on-site as physical presence is required for this role
Ability to self-manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of applicable industry and company codes
Ability to use and learn many systems/tools including Track System for Contractors, ASSI, wIMS, Fit4MTO and GSAP
Flexibility to manage off‑hours response to plant operational difficulties and maintenance work outside of normal working hours in emergency situations
Open to travel for business related meetings related to Maintenance and Non-Routine Maintenance as required
