What’s the role?

The Rig Engineer's accountability id for several component test benches and its stakeholder delivery. This role will also be required to manage the R&D programme requirements of the key stakeholder businesses, predominantly Global Commercial. The purpose of this role is to provide the technical delivery of R&D innovation and development projects in close collaboration with Lubricants scientists. The Operational Engineer has the accountability to complete the component tests as defined in the scope on time and on budget together with the team of technicians. He is accountable to communicate progress and any unforeseen delays in a timely manner to his stakeholders.

Some of the key accountabilities and responsibilties of this role are:


Deliver stakeholder R&D programmes in the area of transmission oils, engine oils and Factory Plant Maintenance Oils (FPMO).
Project responsibility for effective delivery and for some Capex projects regarding quality, time and cost.
Contribute to the further implementation of the Component technology strategy and ensure the long term viability of responsible facilities. Ensure technical and operational status of inhouse test facilities are compliant with product performance evaluation requirements.
Besides his project management skills the Operational Engineer must also apply his technical skills to help improve HSSE in the testing facility, optimize test bench infrastructure & deliver CAPEX projects to keep the testing facilities “State of the Art”.
Maintain full compliance with relevant legislative and HSSE standards for test domain, including operators / technicians. Ensure full compliance to all applicable Group Policies and Standards.
Accountable for test and data validation and initiation of discussion with relevant Technology Mangers / Project Leaders to add technical value to product development.
Accountable for appropriate storage and record management of test information and data in compliance with applicable quality standards.
Setting up new rig and component tests when in-depth knowledge in mechanical engineering is required to support new business development especial E-fluid development.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
Solid scientific or engineering background
Significant experience of working in automotive or other machinery industries is preferred
Strong proficiency in English language
Proven team working, interpersonal & networking skills
Proven ability to manage and implement change
Experience in managing high work load
Visible commitment to this technology area
Sound knowledge of test execution and automation
Knowledge of operational safety and process safety required.
Effective in delivering and managing programs without formal line authority
