We are looking for a Molding Manager with strong leadership and experience in Plastic Injection Molding. In this role, you will manage all activities including part design, mold processing, mentoring Engineering staff, machine selection and maintenance, and tool maintenance and repair.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
Manage the overall activities of the molding department including but not limited to process development and stabilization, part and mold design, molding machine selection and maintenance and mold maintenance and repair.
Direct and coordinate planning and scheduling of developmental molding runs and allocation of machine time to varying programs.
Responsible for assuring the efficient use of materials, machines, molds, auxiliary equipment and employees.
Responsible for the development and implementation of both the long and short term goals for the Molding Department.
Key influencer of the direction on the molding franchise in Danvers, the molding strategy and business direction.
Troubleshoot mold processes, machines, and auxiliary equipment problems and make necessary changes to ensure quality.
Provide mentorship and establish technical direction to molding Engineers, Technicians and Operators, benchmark the direction of programs.
Maintain employee performance review, training, development and disciplinary programs.
Assure compliance to all molding area related procedures, policies and work instructions.
Participate in and support the Quality Management System.
Coordinate and implement standard processes for tooling, molding, and process controls between development and production. Network with other Medtronic sites to benchmark and explore new technologies.
Act as the escalation point of contact between program managers, engineering, outside vendors, and manufacturing groups.
**A Day in the Life**
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Plans, directs and implements all aspects of the company's design and development of new medical device products or software systems.
May develop, evaluate, implement and maintain technical quality assurance and control systems or reliability systems and standards pertaining to materials, techniques, or company products.
Oversees the investigation and evaluation of existing technologies.
Guides the conceptualization of new methodologies, materials, machines, processes or products.
Directs the development of new concepts from initial design to market release.
Manages feasibility studies of the design to determine if capable of functioning as intended.
Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases of research and development.
Organizes the coordination of activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery.
Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**
Bachelors degree required
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
**Nice to Have**
Extensive knowledge of injection molding processing and molded tool design for thermoplastics
Experience managing a team of Engineers and Technicians
Experienced at project management and process validation
Demonstrated computer skills such as Solidworks, Moldflow Analysis, Minitab, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Working knowledge of Statistics and Design of Experiments
Working knowledge or expertise in a regulated environment (Medical, Pharmaceutical, Automotive, Defense)
RJG Mold Masters certification
Moldflow certification
Experience with Insert injection molding and vertical injection molding systems
