Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a multi-disciplinary Systems/Principal Systems Engineer to join our diverse team, working on the Forward Area Air Defense Command and Control (FAAD C2) portfolio of programs in Redondo Beach, CA. The selected candidate will develop algorithms and perform analysis on FAAD C2 for an Army Air Defense System that includes defense against manned aircraft; rockets, artillery, and mortars; unmanned aerial systems (UAS); and cruise missile defense.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
Develop algorithms used for real-time, deployed operational systems
Analyze sensor data and provide comprehensive reports
Support testing events
Develop MATLAB scripts
Produce documentation of developed algorithms
Provide test cases for developed algorithms
Use artificial intelligence/machine learning to improve algorithms where applicable
Build and maintain a working knowledge of safety requirements for the system
Determine potential hazards and mitigations for those hazards
Document mitigation methods and verify implementation of mitigations
Present results directly to government customers
Travel up to 25% of the time is required

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
**This requisition may be filled at either a Systems Engineer (Level 2) or Principal Systems Engineer (Level 3).**
**Basic Qualifications for a Systems Engineer are** : Bachelors degree in Science, Engineering and/or Math and 2 years of applicable experience.
**Basic Qualifications for a Principle Systems Engineer are:** Bachelors degree in Science, Engineering and/or Math and 5 years of applicable experience.
Strong math and statistics skills
Experience with MATLAB
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
PREFERRED QUALFICATIONS
Current DoD Secret clearance
Experience with Kalman filters
Experience with Monte Carlo simulations
Knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) safety standards or experience with other hazards analysis
Salary Range: $85,000.00 - $102,000.00Salary Range 2: $105,000.00 - $120,000.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
