**Location** : North Haven, CT
**Ability to travel up to** : 25% domestically and internationally
**A Day in the Life**
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Lead CT based engineering team (approximately 3-5) and partner with OUS R&D organization located in Shanghai, China. Oversee R&D efforts ensuring achievement of product development milestones while ensuring the highest level of quality.
Plans, directs, and implements all aspects of the company's design and development of new medical device products or software systems.
Oversees the investigation and evaluation of existing technologies.
Guides the conceptualization of new methodologies, materials, machines, processes, or products.
Directs the development of new concepts from initial design to market release.
Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases of research and development.
Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Drive usage of advanced engineering analysis tools and techniques to ensure robust design leading to highly manufacturable and reliable products.
Develop and challenge test methods and data leading to product design verification and validation
Organize and manage departmental development activities across responsible projects and in accordance with design controls, risk management and SOPs.
Interact with cross functional partners (marketing, regulatory, clinical, quality etc.) to create a cohesive environment for product development success.
Use advanced techniques to anticipate, identify and provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
Manage and mentor the team of R&D technical staff. Set goals and actively track progress. Manage resources, expense, and capital budgets.
**Must Have (Minimum Requirements)**

Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering required with a minimum of 7 years of product development experience in Medical Device or similar regulated industry with 5 years of managerial experience
OR advance degree with a minimum of 5 years of product development experience in Medical Device or similar regulated industry with 5 years of managerial experience
**Nice to Have (** **Preferred Qualifications** **)**
5 years of product development management experience
Experience across entire development continuum from concept to product launch
International business experience working across time zones and geographies
Strong understanding of cross-functional product development and a proven track record of successful product launches
Exceptional communication skills and ability to foster a collaborative environment
Understanding of financial metrics and profit/loss analysis
