As the Sr. Engineering Manager – Retail Order Create
, you will be leading a high-performance engineering team and partnering with various product, UX and business stakeholders, as well as operational teams at BBY to deliver innovative solutions that will help deliver great customer outcomes at scale. This demands thorough understanding of both frontend and backend technologies and the ability to manage full stack considerations in pursuit of delivering an industry leading customer experience.

This is a key role that will help influence and drive a unified model of customer purchase engagement, as we evolve our operating model to better leverage the strengths of our retail and digital presence to best serve the changing needs of our customers. You must be a customer focused, data driven, detail minded and results oriented engineering leader, who is comfortable and able to accommodate complexity and ambiguity. The ideal candidate has flourished in building and leading teams to deliver effective, quality solutions and experiences in fast paced, high demand environments.

What you will do as a Senior Engineering Manager:
Act as point of contact for a strong team of engineers, analysts and QA staff to define and implement solutions
Build effective, intuitive user experiences which are focused on solving Blue Shirt and customer challenges
Implement software in a service-based ecosystem, using open-source tools, with a focus on user experience, quality and scale
Lead the team in adding enhancements to our systems, refactoring technical debt, and researching new technologies, patterns and frameworks
Collaborate with cross-discipline teams to solve the problems of an industry leading retailer
Use modern technology to build innovative, and highly scalable solutions
Collaborate with business, UX and technical stakeholders on proposed solutions
Write code and deliver functionality using modern programming languages and technologies
Troubleshoot system issues, fix software defects, perform debugging and testing
Lead code reviews
Lead stand-ups, iteration planning, design reviews and other typical agile ceremonies
Support production applications
Minimum Qualifications:
5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree OR equivalent relevant professional experience
1 year experience managing and leading engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications:
4 years’ experience as software developer in Java or other Object Oriented language
Experience with modern web technologies and frameworks (React, ES6-7, Webpack, etc.)
Experience with Cloud Computing platforms (e.g. Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Compute Engine, OpenStack, Rackspace cloud, etc.)
Experience working with Java, Groovy, Spring, SQL, Cassandra, message queues.
Knowledge of and working experience with open source software as well as networks, security, firewalls, load balancers, DNS, and other infrastructure components
Demonstrated experience in an Agile environment
Experience with cross functional teams, including business and UX stakeholders
Experience using version control systems such as Git or SVN
Experience with bug tracking software such as Jira
Proficiency with UNIX/Linux command line
Experience in test driven development, continuous integration and deployment practices
Experience with application development that produce/consume REST APIs
