TAD PGS, INC. is currently seeking a Senior Cisco Systems Engineer for one of our clients in Fort Knox, KY.

Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance

Position Description:

We are looking for the following requirements for the position in the Network Support Team. Team primary responsibilities lie in the configuration, management, support and maintenance of the US Army Recruiting Command Services (RSN) network. Team provides 24X7 support for all RSN communications equipment (routers, switches, hubs, terminal servers, wireless access points, VPN concentrators, and UPS) and circuits in the network while providing on call coverage on a monthly rotation cycle.

Candidate will be expected to be the technical subject matter expert on communication solutions operating under minimum supervision for a large complex enterprise organization. He/she is responsible for evaluating and analyzing the performance of communications services, defining communication baselines and communications service levels for the enterprise.

The candidate is responsible for the implementation of control and monitoring systems to assist in the evaluation of performance of communications services. He/she is responsible for the full documentation of the enterprise communications architecture to include drawings, diagrams, operations manuals and other applicable data.

This position supervises and mentors less experienced staff. This position can work independently on most efforts.

Mandatory Technical Requirements:


A minimum of 5 years technical experience in applications systems design and development, database design, systems architecture design combined.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science field. Four years of additional general experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
Prefer the individual have a minimum of 8 years experience and certification as a Cisco Certified Network Professional or Cisco Certified Design Professional is required.
Individual must posses a comprehensive level of competence and minimum 10 years of working experience with Cisco Internet Operating System (IOS), Cisco security devices and wireless networking and/or have a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certificate and a minimum of 8 years experience.
Individual must be fully capable of addressing all levels of trouble calls or network events.
Strong network technology concepts and experience, especially Ethernet & IP.
In-depth understanding of software installation and operations.
LAN switching & routing & Ethernet networks along with IP routing, configuration, troubleshooting of switched & routed networks.
Strong experience in WLAN, extended wired LAN with Wireless using wireless access points.
Implemented and configured WLAN 802.11x, SNMP, VPN, TCP/IP, ATM, Frame Relay, ISDN, DSL, Broadband, OSPF, RIP, EGIRP, BGP, Ethernet.
Familiar with IEEE standards for LAN & wireless LAN.
Design, development, deployment, problem identification and remediation, and on-going support of a very large WAN Environment.
Very strong working experience with Fiber Optics, Cisco Routers, Cisco Switches, Gateway, DTE & DCE equipment.
Working experience on data communication equipment - Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Cable Tester, ATM Tester, optical power meter, etc.
Experience to design and implement structure cabling CAT5e, Fiber.
Ability to design and implement leading-edge WLAN solutions 802.11x.
Knowledgeable of WLAN System/product using Fast and Gigabit Ethernet traffic.
Strong understanding and working knowledge Cisco, 3Com, Alcatel, Juniper, Alteon, Foundry, Cacheflow, Aironet, VPN, F5 and Pix products.
Excellent troubleshooting skills, fast technology learner and ability to independently perform tasks.
Excellent communication skills to interface Network Operation Groups, Engineering, customer, vendor and third party personnel.
Provide engineering planning and management support.
Determine optimal routing through the network.
Ability to troubleshoot network performance problems.
Determine appropriate circuit types and capacities.
Develop conceptual solutions for migration from an ATM core backbone to a MPLS-based infrastructure.
In-depth knowledge and experience in computer/network security, network vulnerability, and network risk management, network security software, IP addressing schemes, penetration testing.
Understanding of shell scripting for development of network attack tools and techniques as well as daily tasks.
Ability to perform system engineering tasks such as identifying/refining new requirements, design, and test.
Ability to provide 3rd level technical support to end-users and administrators.
Develop and recommend strategies that will increase reliability, availability, and uptime.
