Shell’s Renewables & Energy Solutions business was created in 2016 and leads the development and growth of Shell’s integrated power business, including low-carbon sources like wind and solar, new mobility options like electric vehicle charging and lower-carbon fuel options like hydrogen for industry and road transport. Shell continues to provide customers with more renewable and low-carbon power, helping customers to switch to these options through energy solutions and decarbonisation services.
Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind is a 50:50 partnership between Shell New Energies US LLC and EDF Renewables North America. The joint-venture (JV) company was formed in December 2018 and has a portfolio of lease areas. In June 2021, the JV was awarded a 20-year Offshore Renewable Energy Credit (OREC) by the New Jersey Bureau of Public Utilities for Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind Project 1, a 1,510 MW offshore wind project to begin construction and reach commercial operation in the mid-to-late 2020s.

What’s the role?
As WTG Engineer you will be part of the Wind Turbine Generator package team of Atlantic Shores and will play a key role in the delivery of the WTG Package for Project 1. You will support the WTG Technical Lead and WTG Package Manager to manage the technical scope including the design, quality, risk, interfaces, and safety features for the package.
You will be part of the WTG package team that is responsible to deliver the WTG package from concept select up to handover to operations, covering design, delivery, installation and commissioning. You will work on the Wind Turbine supplier technical interfaces, detailed design and integrated load simulation, and will support contract management and manufacturing at global and at new US facilities, marshalling, installation, commissioning, and handover to operations.
More specific duties include:
Providing technical expertise for the design process
Interface with the other packages and disciplines in the Atlantic Shores team, supplier, third parties and CVA.
Review of key-deliverables from package groups, including but not limited to technical schedules and availability warranty.
Support the WTG Technical lead on tracking and managing on risks, opportunities, schedule and cost for the WTG scope.
Work with HSE Manager, Site Managers, employees and contractors to perform work within safety management plan, proactively contribute to updating the safety management plan as required.
Work with quality team to develop the quality management plan for the WTG package, and ensuring that specifications are met both on products and processes.
Interfacing between Joint Venture team and Shell global offshore wind team, to ensure Subject Matter Expert reviews are organized, and best practices and lessons learned from the wider Shell organization are made available for the Joint Venture project team.
What we need from you
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or in a comparable field)
Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience within on- or off-shore wind energy
Technical and execution in know-how in onshore wind, power generation facilities, or offshore structures required; Technical and execution know-how in offshore wind preferred.
PMP Certification preferred
Understanding of load iteration process
Knowledge of Wind Turbine Supply Agreements, their technical aspects and commercial impact
Very good analytical and conceptual skills as well as the ability to think innovatively and strategically
Evidence of your commitment to Health Safety and Environment
Good communication skills and high social competence
Task-related willingness to travel, nationally as well as internationally
Work location and travel requirements:
Work Location: Preferably New Jersey Project Office, alternately existing Atlantic Shores or Shell company office (Houston, Boston)
Ability to travel every month to an Atlantic Shores or parent office for 3-5 days at a time (depending on COVID related travel restrictions).
