Job Purpose
PU sourcing category manager is responsible for predefined direct material category. Main job is to develop and maintain relationships of the suppliers in your category in close collaboration with R&D, engineering, supplier quality and purchasing to deliver the best value to PU L&H business in terms of Quality, Delivery Performance and Total Cost.
Main Responsibilities
Develop and monitor supplier performance in cooperation with other functions and supporting cross functional team members consisting of buyers, design, quality, production engineers.
Category specific sourcing strategy development and implementation.
Manage new supplier projects, ensure agreed targets and secure supply.
Negotiates all company requirements (cost, product quality, and delivery) with existing and potential suppliers.
Total cost of ownership, ensuring category strategy implementation and managing supplier negotiations are vital part of the job.
Recommend the selection of factories that meet our sourcing goals and objectives which include meeting target costs, quality, minimums, lead times and certifications.
Develop and maintain strategic partners to cooperate with PU engineering, quality and manufacturing for value add.
Define and negotiate Statements of Work, Supply and Warranty Agreements, in addition to other contracts and legal documentation, lead Supplier Management, Supplier Development, and Supplier Assessment initiatives.
Develop and maintain sourcing projects, ensure targets are defined and met to secure supply.
Target cost and supplier selection/involvement as sourcing representative in R&D projects.
Follow supplier market and trends globally and locally.
Conduct supplier negotiations and selection process in collaboration with SQ and supply.
Manage prototype supply base and develop cost saving methods and opportunities in order to promote overall business unit productivity and supplier competitiveness.
Contract management.
Supplier capacity management and quality management in supplier selection.
Ensure adherence to Sandvik Purchasing Policy, Code of Conduct, as well as EHS and sustainability targets.

Required Competencies
Deep knowledge of purchasing tools, negotiation methods, and business communications.
Working knowledge in blueprint reading, statistics, PPAP documentation, product costing, and specifications.
Proficiency in, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel (advanced).
Demonstrates capability and success in understanding metrics, data management and overall business analytics process and tools.
Proven ability to work independently in a fast paced, high-volume environment.
Proven ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel and management.
Good negotiation skills.
Risk analysis and supplier audit knowledge.
Good understanding of manufacturing, supply chain and R&D processes.
Analytical, problem-solving skills and project management skills.
Good collaboration skills to build effective relations internally and externally.
Service attitude, good communication and negotiation skills.
Fluency in English.
Experience
Minimum 5 years in strategic purchasing or sourcing and experience in mechanical engineering industry in sales, production, purchasing or R&D.
3-5 years’ experience in the global sourcing environment
3-5 years’ experience within product development
Prior work experience in manufacturing environment
Experience in New Product Development
Education
Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain. Management, Economics or related field.
Experience or training or degree in Sales or Strategic Purchasing.
