Profile
The Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SEWRPC), the regional planning agency for the seven county greater Milwaukee area and the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization for the five urbanized areas within southeastern Wisconsin, has an immediate opening for a civil engineer with an interest in transportation and traffic engineering and planning. The Commission is looking for a highly motivated individual interested in joining a diverse team of planners and engineers focused on ensuring that the Region is prepared to compete on a national and global scale economically while improving the quality of life for the Region’s residents. The Transportation Engineer will be a key staff member working in the Transportation Division to conduct and assist in preparation of plans and reports and the analysis and visualization of data.

Regional Safe Streets Action Plan
Milwaukee County Jurisdictional Highway System Plan
2023-2026 Transportation Improvement Program
Examples of Duties:
Preparation of traffic/transportation analyses
Preparation of transportation plans
Preparation of a short-range transportation improvement program
Evaluation and prioritization of projects for various Federal funding sources
Assistance to local units of government in the areas of traffic impact and transportation planning studies
Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, with an emphasis in transportation and/or traffic engineering
Effective written and oral communication skills
Ability to work within and contribute to a team structure and to work with diverse groups of individuals within diverse environments
Preferred:
A master’s degree or current professional engineer registration
Experience with traffic analysis software (such as Highway Capacity Software), AutoCAD, Cube, ArcGIS, and SQL
Experience with transportation asset management, roadway safety, and complete streets
Salary range is $50,000 to $90,000 depending upon education, experience, and placement with the organizational structure. Salary outside the range may be considered for highly qualified applicants.
