Your Opportunity
New Relic's Incubator team, is a part of the Strategy Office. The team straddles Product, GTM, and Strategy by collaborating directly with customers and account teams! The team is working to validate technologies, expose opportunities, and help accelerate the development and delivery of technologies that the entire New Relic One platform use.
As a member of this team, you will obsess over the details of how we deliver and scale our technology projects with our cloud-first bias. You will be empathetic to ITOps, DevOps, and NoOps alike because every engineer matters! Collaboration with our Telemetry Data Platform organization will be the key to your success.
Delivering innovative solutions at New Relic-scale requires a high degree of emotional intelligence, the willingness to take calculated risks, and an understanding that there are no Teams of One in a successful, sustainable organization.
What You'll Do
Our ideal candidate is someone who can help evolve our team with their passion and experience in building outstanding cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices for a petabyte-scale environment. You will have the opportunity to:
Build meaningful user experiences that have real customer impact through thoughtful, high-quality practices that enable fellow engineers and customers to focus on solving key challenges
Implement differentiated designs for optimized data and deployment pipelines in collaboration with other engineers on the team
Lead efforts to support our growing funnel of innovation projects
Deliver cloud-agnostic patterns and implementations that can run in AWS, Azure, GCP, or private clouds
Solve complex use cases that require close collaboration with product management, product design, and engineering teams
Increase the impact of one or more team members through mentoring, pairing, and support
Your Qualifications
Must-have:
5 years Cloud Operations and/or Architecture experience at a senior level (AWS and Azure preferred)
3-5 years in a software development environment (preference for Java and Go)
An understanding of CI/CD methodologies and practices
Experience querying data from a variety of sources such as GraphQL, REST APIs, or key/value data stores
Experience with breaking down product requirements into architecture design and implementation
Experience working with Git, and workflows around it, such as reviewing PRs and applying best practices reviews
Collaborative working style that includes colleagues in important decisions and leads to shared code ownership
Experience leading collective efforts of the team to deliver on consistent usability and reliability
You enjoy mentoring others
Nice-to-have:
Demonstrated knowledge of Software Defined Networking
Demonstrated knowledge of Kubernetes at an enterprise scale
Knowledge of on-premises technologies including, but not limited to, network, storage, compute, virtualization, containerization, etc.
Experience with or exposure to open source databases like PostgreSQL
